We’re Gabriel and Kristy, the couple behind Sell a Yacht Australia and YouSail.
Our dream is simple. Buy a sailing yacht, move aboard and see where the wind takes us. Australia first. Then the Pacific. Maybe much further.
We’re not there yet. We’re still learning, taking courses, spending time on boats and asking a lot of questions.
Every new chapter starts with questions.
As we work towards buying our own yacht, we’re looking at the sale from both sides. What makes a boat worth its asking price? Which repairs matter? How do you choose a broker? What should be written down before money changes hands?
The answers are spread across listing sites, brokerage websites, government pages, forums and Facebook groups. We wanted a clearer way through them. A place that connects valuation, preparation, marketing, brokers and the paperwork at the end.
That’s Sell a Yacht Australia. A practical resource for owners who want to understand the process, ask better questions and make informed decisions about selling their boat.

We’re not going to pretend we’re expert sailors, marine surveyors or yacht brokers. We’re not. We’re learning as we go, and sharing what we find.
Our job is to organise information and make it easier to use. The guides point to relevant sources, the broker directory draws its company and agent records from YouSail, and the valuation calculator provides an indicative starting point—not a professional valuation or a promised sale price.
For decisions about a particular yacht, its condition or a contract, you’ll still need the right qualified people. You can read more about our approach in our editorial policy.
